OK, so I just watched the Gossip Girl season finale, and I am confused and sort of pissed off about it, so whether you care to read it or not, I'm gonna rant. Be warned.
So, to preface, let's recap as to what has been going on before this nonsensical finale. Chuck told Blair to meet him atop the Empire State Building (lame) by 7PM on a designated night, and if she didn't show up, he would be done with her forever. Dorota, Blair's ever faithful house slave, is pregnant - why? who knows. and who cares? - Jenny is an uber bitch and wants to ruin everyone's lives. Serena has daddy issues and therefore doesn't/can't trust anyone, and neglects to tell Nate several important things. Dan is just around; not much going on with him.
Alright, so the whole Chuck/Blair meeting at the Empire State Building was far too Sleepless in Seattle for my taste, but whatever. So Chuck goes, and waits and waits and waits, eventually giving up and going home to drink himself to death. Blair missed the meeting because Dorota went into labor. My biggest problem with this? Blair doesn't even attempt to contact Chuck and let him know she will be late. The cell phone may as well be a character on this show, and she doesn't text him, call him, or even GG him. WTF? So thinking Blair no longer loves him, Chuck goes home and starts drinking heavily.
Jenny finds Dan and Serena in bed together (both fully clothed and not even so much as snuggling) and takes a picture of them; Gossip Girl blast ensues. Nate finds out, gets pissed, texts Vanessa in Haiti to tell her that their respective lovers are cheating with each other. We never see how Vanessa reacts, but Dan tells us it's bad. I have 2 problems with this. 1: We are told that Dan and Serena kissed, but we don't see it. If there's gonna be steamy gossip, shouldn't they show it? 2: I hate Jenny. I don't know what they are doing with her/to her (the writers) but she's annoying. And emo. And it bugs me. Rufus finds out that Jenny is horribly messed up and scheming/plotting/etc... and sends her and her raccoon eyes off to Hudson to live with her mom. (This part I'm happy about, as Jenny is my least favorite character and she doesn't bring much to the show. Actually, I take that back: Vanessa is my least favorite character as she doesn't bring anything to the show, but she's already gone for the time being.)
Before boarding the ho train to Hudson, Jenny goes to Chuck's apartment to find Nate. Nate's not there, but Chuck is, drinking scotch and wallowing in his sorrows. Eventually, they have sex, which results in Jenny's flower-popping. (Ha.) This was by FAR the worst idea GG has ever had. This hook-up is so disgusting and wrong in so many ways, it's not even GOOD drama. It was so bad in fact, that they didn't even show it. The screen goes black, and goes to commercial; we come back, they're done. The producers were probably afraid we'd scratch our eyes out.
Blair goes to find Chuck to explain why she was late and missed their romantic encounter. Jenny is in Chuck's bed. She hides and somehow manages to vanish without anyone seeing/hearing her leave. I'm also 90% sure she stole Chuck's sheets. Blair and Chuck reconcile and are in love again... for 5 minutes. Jenny tells Eric that she and Chuck slept together, Eric tells Dan, Dan punches Chuck in the face in front of Blair, just as Chuck asks B "Will you...". Blair tells Chuck to f*** off (in essence) and everyone leaves. OK, Chuck was about to propose. WHY RUIN THAT?! Why can't they just have their damn happy ending?! Seriously, GG, stop fucking with us. I'm getting sick of this on-again-off-again thing.
Nate and Serena break up, Dan tries to contact Vanessa with no avail, and Blair and Serena head off to Paris for the summer. Dan looks up plane tickets to follow them, seemingly to confess his love to Serena. Chuck goes somewhere foreign, not sure where, and gets mugged. They steal the engagement ring he had for Blair (which was effing gorgeous) and shoot him. The episode ends with Chuck lying on the street, bleeding. OMG why is GG trying to ruin my life? Ha, seriously, did Chuck really need to get shot? This is becoming more and more soap opera-ish every day and it's pissing me off. Couldn't he have just been all depressed and looking at the ring, crying is poor little heart out?
Ugh!!
